Our kitten wellness program is designed to offer your new kitten all the benefits of veterinary services available from 6 weeks of age to 16 weeks of age.

Included in this service is a series of examinations and vaccinations including rabies, panleukopenia (distemper) and leukemia. In addition, your kitten will be tested for feline leukemia and feline immunodeficiency virus, and will be treated for the most common intestinal worm of kittens - roundworms.

Roundworms can cause your kitten to vomit and / or experience diarrhea; however, it is possible for your kitten to have roundworms and not show any signs of harboring the worms. A microscopic fecal examination will allow us to evaluate the presence of these worms. The examination will also look for other types of worms that can affect your kitten.

Additional Information

  • Other Vaccines - Other vaccines for kittens and cats are available but not generally recommended. Please read our handout, Feline Vaccinations, for more information.
  • Parasites - Please read our handout, Feline Parasites, for more information on parasites such as intestinal worms, heartworms, fleas, ticks, coccidia, and giardia, and how to prevent them.
  • Deworming - General deworming treatments are generally for hookworms and roundworms only. Treatment for other intestinal worms and other parasites (fleas, ticks, ear mites) is additional.
  • Spay/Neuter Surgery - We recommend spay and neuter surgery to be performed after 3 months and before 7 months of age. They do well with the procedure and recover quickly at this age.
  • Feline Wellness Visits - Your kitten will start an annual rotation of appropriate vaccines one year from the date of the kitten rabies booster. In addition, we recommend semi-annual wellness exams to assess the overall health of your cat. This will begin your adult cat's wellness program.
