Our puppy wellness program is designed to offer your new puppy all the benefits of veterinary services available from 6 weeks of age to 16 weeks of age.
Included in this service is a series of examinations and vaccinations including rabies, distemper and parvovirus. In addition, your puppy will be tested for worms and be treated for the most common intestinal worm of puppies - roundworms. Roundworms can cause gastrointestinal signs such as vomiting and / or diarrhea.
Other parasites can cause similar symptoms and can even cause your puppy to become anemic (low red blood cells). Performing a fecal test will allow us to treat your puppy accordingly. Although some worms are visible to the naked eye, most worm burdens are diagnosed by examining the stool of your puppy microscopically.

Additional Information
- Other Vaccinations - Other vaccines for puppies and dogs are available but not routinely recommended. Please read our handout, Canine Vaccinations, for more information.
- Parasites - Please read our handout, Canine Parasites, for more information on parasites such as intestinal worms, heartworms, fleas, ticks, coccidia, and giardia, and how to prevent them.
- Deworming - General deworming treatments are generally for hookworms and roundworms only. Treatment for other intestinal worms and other parasites (fleas, ticks, ear mites) is additional.
- Spay/Neuter Surgery - We recommend spay and neuter surgery to be performed after 3 months and before 7 months of age. They do well with the procedure and recover quickly at this age.
- Canine Wellness Visits - Your puppy will start an annual rotation of appropriate vaccines one year from the date of your puppy's rabies booster. In addition, we recommend semi-annual wellness exams to assess the overall health of your dog. This will begin your adult dog's wellness program.
