Meet Dr. Deborah Shanks, lead veterinarian and partner behind CityVet Lake Worth. Since graduating veterinary school in 2013, she has proudly cared for pets and the families who love them across DFW. Dr. Shanks prides herself on her dedication and ability to go above and beyond for each and every animal and her goal is to make sure every pet is living their best life. At home, she’s a mom to three daughters, two dogs, and one very opinionated cat—so life is busy, loud, and full of love! Opening her own practice has been a long-time dream, and with the support of a team that shares her heart for compassionate care, she is incredibly excited to welcome the community to CityVet Lake Worth.

They even have a chiropractor and acupuncturist, Dr Barbie, she comes to the clinic to help treat the patients who need her. She was so kind and very knowledgeable helping put my anxious mind at ease as well as helping my dog feel less pain and encourage healing.
I have multiple animals and have been to 5 veterinary clinics this year due to either an emergency or recheck appointments and was scoping out what clinic I would prefer for my primary clinic and hands down it is this CityVet location. The receptionist are really nice and helpful, the techs have been kind and knowledgeable, the Dr we saw was Dr Shanks, you can really tell she cares deeply and loves her job.

We call it STAFF APPRECIATION WEEK because we believe EVERY single person on our team deserves to be recognized and celebrated! 🩷
From our veterinary technicians and assistants to our client service coordinators, groomer, and practice manager — every single person plays an important role in making CityVet Lake Worth what it is today.
Veterinary medicine is so much more than cuddling puppies and kittens (although that’s definitely a perk!). It’s hard work, long days, emotional moments, teamwork, compassion, and an incredible amount of dedication.

Meet Dr. Hurst, a small animal veterinarian since 2015. She is passionate about preventative medicine and keeping your furry family members thriving. She knows that a pet isn’t just an animal, they’re a best friend, and she has dedicated her career to supporting that special bond. When she isn’t in the clinic, you can find her with her husband and two kids, hanging out on their ranchette with their 2 dogs, Bernoulli and Fisher, as well as the family horses Comanche, Darwin, Rou, and Hotshot.
