I won’t be allowed enough characters here adequately explain how fantastic, generous, knowledegable, and kind Dr. Guster is. My cattle dog has always been required to be sedated and muzzled for visits. Even with sedation, we haven’t been able to get him into a vet for a few years; he’s terrified and extremely reactive and bites.
Recently, he started having what I suspected was back pain. I was able to easily book a next day appointment online. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get my dog into the clinic, so I went in to apologize in person for taking up the time slot. Dr. Guster came out to the lobby and spoke with me at length about what I was seeing, what he thought the issue may be, and suggested a mobile vet given my dog’s fear. I offered to pay for the visit and they refused to take any payment.
The pain got worse the next day, so I called again and asked if it would be beneficial at all to bring him in a crate, even if they wouldn’t be able to do a physical exam or labs and they said yes and booked me for the next morning when the clinic would be quiet.
We were unable to get a muzzle or cone on my dog once in the exam room. Dr. Guster suggested we walk with him to the back, where he then had me stand with my dog against a cabinet and was able to do both a physical exam and labs. He was so calm and fearless and explained that sometimes less is more.
It’s completely unbelievable to me that they were able or willing to do an exam without a muzzle or cone. This exemplifies experience, kindness, wisdom, determination, empathy, and expertise.
I can not possibly express in words how thankful I am to have found Dr. Guster and his team at City Vet. Thank you, All, from the deepest depths of my heart and soul.
