Can dogs eat corn on the cob or hot dogs at your Labor Day BBQ?
Quick answer: no! Bones splinter, corn cobs cause blockages, and chocolate/xylitol are toxic. Keep pet-friendly treats on hand instead.
A few other things to keep in mind: alcohol and soda are off-limits, fresh water + shade beat the heat, supervise pool time (not every dog`s a strong swimmer), set up a quiet space for fireworks-sensitive pets, and clear the yard of citronella candles, bug spray, and skewers.
A little prep = a fun, stress-free weekend for everyone!

Dr. Farris grew up in Rock Hill, South Carolina, where her familyโs love for animals inspired her passion for pets from an early age. She spent time shadowing her father at his veterinary practice before moving to Texas with her husband, Cade, and their son, Caden, who is the greatest joy in her life. Dr. Farris is excited to expand her knowledge and skills as part of the CityVet team.
